It has co-op and battle mode as well as the solo story line. Do you need to know the plot? Italian plumbers rescue blonde princess from scaly monster. The usual. Except now you can enjoy shaking the remote around to do cool stuff like flying.

Bring back the summer sun, on your TV screen anyway. This is basically Wii Sports but on holiday. Instead of bowling, baseball and golf you get to do a dozen activities including archery, canoeing and swordplay. Just make sure you’ve got your Motion Plus to avoid arguments about doing it wrong.

3 – Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games
Another Mario game, this time including everyone’s favourite small blue mammal. Similar to the summer games version (see number 10) you basically have a series of mini games based around the winter Olympics. Play as all the classic Nintendo characters skiing, ice hockey, figure skating and more. And this time if you have the Balance Board you can do some of the events using that instead.

4 – Mario Kart Wii
Ok so who hasn’t played this game yet? Mario and co (again – do Nintendo have any other characters except Mario, Link and Sonic?) go Formula One and race head to head on a variety of colourful courses. It’s incredibly fun as a family game, although I can guarantee now that someone will end up throwing their Wii-mote at the TV screen before the final race finishes. Luigi’s castle is by far the best track by the way.

5 – F1 2009
Another racing game, except this time a bit more grown up since it’s based on the popular sport. This game goes for immersion instead of cartoony fun, showcasing how surprisingly well the Wii does realism. All the tracks, all the cars plus five fully customisable schemes and game play which you can adapt to your ability. You can do both co-op and multiplayer, and just try to not argue over who gets to be Lewis Hamilton.

6 – Rabbids Go Home
Let face it, no-one cares about Rayman anymore. Since Raving Rabbids it’s been all about the white fluffy ones. This is their first comedy outing, and you can customise your own rabid and plunge(r) them into fifteen game environments and forty missions. Scare humans, make a mess and generally cause havoc as the rabbids try to collect enough items of various sizes in order to reach the moon.

7 – Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues
I love the Lego games. Anyone can pick up and play them, and they’re just good easy fun (although not too easy- sometimes the puzzles are incredibly annoying too!). This version is essential the original Lego Indy, but with extra levels and the addition of a whole new story based on The Crystal Skull. Plus you can now create your own levels too! Best played in Co-op.

Football games aren’t going away, and unfortunately it’s a genre I know nothing about, what with being in possession of ovaries. It includes both the usual modes, career and manager. The game play is said to have been much improved meaning that you can more sophisticatedly control the ball and make better use of your pitch space. But let face it- you’re either going to be a Fifa fan, or a Pro Evo fan, and nothing I can say will convince you to go for one over the other!

Everyone still goes haywire for the Wii Fit, possibly because it’s cheaper than a gym membership and you won’t feel quite as guilty when you stop doing it after a month. Using the unique Balance Board, you can choose from four exercise categories- strength training, aerobics, yoga and balance games. The game also keeps track of your progress and sets you achievable targets. Warning – may improve your health.
